We have been informed that the recently introduced Cardiac Output Module from Pronk is now available. We are aware of the Sim Cube (evaluation below) which went down a storm, especially in the feild. Anyone wishing to evaluate this new addition to the Pronk range is asked to contact Carl Lawes at Proact, follow the link from this site and please give us your feedback Initial inspection First impression of the test equipment was its compact size, multiple functions and suitability for field use. The carry case has ample storage area for its residing equipment but also has space for any minimal tools. Case (Main) • Separate zipped compartment for all attachments • 6 compartments in total • shoulder strap (padded) Case (Oxsim) • belt strap • 2 compartments • the same size as a camera case Dimensions • case main W, H, L 160mm, 165mm, 300mm (approx) • case Oxsim W, H, L 60mm, 125mm, 100mm (approx) Electrical operation
Mains SimCube and Oxsim can be operated by mains adaptor, the power supply supplies 1.8VDC, 1.8Aamp, and 2.1mm jack. Batteries SimCube and OxSim can be operated on battery power for portable use, the battery holder requires four “AA” batteries, which gives 100-200 nibp simulations. The battery boost holder is designed to use alkaline batteries, whilst you can use rechargeable batteries you will need to recharge them with an external charger. Contents and accessories

Simcube and Oxsim has been used to test for performance with over a dozen vital signs monitors and sp02 monitors, these include Nellcor, GE-Datex, Masimo, Nonin and Philips. The evaluation has been done thoroughly which included field and site based environments. There is no need for separate large carry cases for both the simcube and Oxsim as they both fit into one case supported by padded shoulder strap; this allows you to carry a tool case in one hand and laptop or notepad in the other as shown below. The design and structure of the simcube makes it sit steady on all types of surfaces and also due to its outer rubber boot it grips the surface at a slope. Performance verification Testing SimCube There are seven nibp tests available on the simcube, these are toggled by pressing one large push to make button on the front of the cube. NIBP tests available are: • Adult 120/80 hr @ 70bpm, mean pressure @ 97mmhg • Neo 70/40 hr @ 95bpm mean pressure @ 51mmhg • High 190/120 hr @ 70bpm mean pressure @ 142mmhg • Low 80/40 hr @ 70bpm mean pressure @ 58mhg • Over pressure • Manometer pressure reads from -400mmhg to + 400mmhg • Leak test ECG / Respiration tests available are:
• 70/20 • 95/40 • 70/20 • 00/00 • Arrhythmia • Pacer • HR sequence - the values toggle every 30 seconds For the ECG 30, 60, 90,120, 45, 60, 160, 220. For the Resp values: 00, 30, 45, 60, 22, 80, 110. IBP tests available are:
A six pin mini din cable (6’) cable is supplied with the SimCube. • IBP Dynamic Modes: values are : 120/80, 70/40, 190/120 • IBP0 for zeroing monitor • IBP 100 static pressure of 100mmhg • IBP 200 static pressure of 200mmhg • IBP step 30sec at each of the following values: 0, 25, 50, 100, 150, 200, 250mmhg OxSim The OxSim has 3 sensor types, of which one needs to be selected in order for the right sensor to be sensed. The three sensors types are for Nellcor/Masimo, HP/Ohmeda and other, this last one is for any other sensor other than the ones mentioned. There are five modes for testing sp02, the values are: • 80%, 80bpm, perfusion index of 2.0 approx • 95%, 40bpm, perfusion index of 2.0 approx • 98%, 80bpm, perfusion index of 2.0 approx • 98%, 140bpm, perfusion index of 2.0 approx • 99%, 80bpm, low perfusion index of 0.2 approx Conclusion
A must have piece of test gear for the Clinical engineering workshop; it has proven to save time by one key operation which steps through test parameters. The simcube can be carried by hand and the Oxsim fits nicely on your palm. The attachments supplied make it diverse to test numerous makes and models of monitors with simplicity being the key issue. Ideal for the field service engineers to carry on routine or breakdown calls, and you can also pack in some useful tools in the space provided by the carry case. Simcube and oxsim is extremely useful when rolling out on the job training for trainees, once the principles of NIBP, SPO2, ECG and IBP have been explained you can expect those unfamiliar with the test equipment to soon be competent without any difficulty at all.
